Just a two-minute walk away is one of the city's most beloved beaches – „Harmonites“ beach, holder of the prestigious European Union Blue Flag award for 2025. It is ideal for fans of organised areas with sun loungers and bars, as well as for those who prefer free zones. A wide sandy strip, clean water and a multitude of sea entertainment await you right next to us.

The marina

Located very close by, the yacht marina is the perfect starting point for your maritime adventures. From here, you can easily hire a motorboat or yacht for your personal escape to the open sea. The marina is also the starting point for numerous scenic boat tours that will take you to the beautiful islands of St. Ivan and St. Peter.

The Heart of Sozopol: The Old Town

Over 180 Renaissance houses from the 18th-19th century, built of stone and wood, can be seen.

  • South curtain wall and tower A restored section of the city's fortifications with a panoramic promenade for walking, situated right above cliffs. In its foundations lies a museum with ancient artefacts. This is the best-restored section of the city's fortifications.
  • The Church of „Sts. Cyril and Methodius“ Here are kept the relics of St. John the Baptist, discovered on the island of St. Ivan.
  • Archaeological Museum Here is preserved the history of the city from the 6th century BC to the present day. A perfect place for history lovers, where you will see the famous „Sozopol vampire“, unique ancient vases, ancient amphorae, etc.
  • Guest advice: The best walk is along the coastal promenade that encircles the entire peninsula – ideal for sunset photos.
  • Church of „St. Mary“ – A medieval church so deeply dug into the ground that it is no taller than a person

The romance of the Old Town

On a short stroll, you will immerse yourself in the history of Old Sozopol. The cobblestone streets, authentic wooden houses, and view of the fishing boats will transport you to another era. Here you will find cosy galleries, museums, and unique panoramic restaurants perched on the cliffs.

Adventure and nature

  • St. Ivan Island The largest Bulgarian island in the Black Sea, where the relics of St. John the Baptist were discovered in 2010
  • Agali nose:This natural landmark is located a few kilometres south, situated between Sozopol and Dyuni, which is a favourite among thrill-seekers for cliff diving.
  • „Sand Lily“ ReserveLocated in the Kavadatsi beach area, here you can see a rare and beautiful flower growing directly in the sand.

The Magic of Sozopol

  • „Love in the Wind“ Castle (Ravadino):It is only 3-4 km from the city. Fabulous architecture, beautiful gardens and a lake with swans. Huge gardens with exotic plants, lakes with white and black swans, a horse riding centre and a winery. The place is straight out of a Disney fairytale. There is a mini zoo and many play areas.
  • Ropotamo RiverA boat trip downstream on the river, through a dense floodplain forest. You can see the „Lion's Head“ rock formation.
  • Beglik Tash (near Primorsko):It is located about 20 km from Sozopol, inland in the forest above Primorsko. This is a Thracian megalithic sanctuary, known as the „Bulgarian Stonehenge“. It is considered an ancient calendar and observatory. There is a „path of trial“ – a narrow crevice between rocks, through which, according to legends, only people with pure hearts can pass.
  • Arkutino ReserveIt is located about 10 km south of Sozopol and is part of the Ropotamo Reserve, where wild water lilies and Serpent Island can be seen.

The underwater petrified forest: A journey 12 million years back

Did you know that just a few minutes from the coast of Sozopol lies a phenomenon unparalleled in the world? Between the islands St. Ivan and St. Kirik, On the seabed rests a petrified forest from the Miocene epoch.

  • Uniqueness This is the only place on the planet with such a large-scale aggregation of petrified trees underwater. The forest covers an impressive 120,000 square metres.

  • History The trunks of extinct cypress and cedar trees (up to 3 metres in diameter) were „sealed“ by marine sediments about 12 million years ago, remaining intact to this day.

  • Experience Described by divers as „apocalyptic“ and magical, the forest offers an unforgettable underwater dive.
